2011 Federal Territory Day Parade Activities

DBKL wrote to invite the Chamber to take part in the parade activities to be held in conjunction with 2011 Federal Territory Day. DBKL proposed that the Malay, Chinese and Indian Chambers jointly form a contingent of 75 persons. After contact, the Malay and Indian Chambers were unable to take part.

The General Affairs Committee decided to participate and proposed Youths Committee to assist in organizing the Chamber’s contingent. The parade activities were held on 29th January 2011 (Saturday) at 8.00 a.m. at Dataran Merdeka and officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister.
After much effort, the Chamber succeeded to organize a 75-member contingent. About 90 contingents (about 6,000 participants) participated in the said parade.

DBKL provided an allowance of RM5,000.00 for each contingent to subsidize the uniforms, food & transport. The total cost incurred was RM5,500.00, which was used to purchase T-shirts, food and as allowance. Youths Committee Acting Chairman agreed to bear the deficit amount.

The Chamber would like to express gratitude for Mr. James Tan for his assistance in arrangements of the Chamber’s contingent. The Chamber would also like to thank Mr. Ter Leong Yap and Mr. Lee Koing for sending their staff to participate in the said parade.

The Committee also congratulated Mr. Michael Chai on being conferred the J.M.W. title by Yang Dipertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin in conjunction with the Federal Territory Day on 1st February 2011.

On another note, the Chamber and the Chamber’s Youths Committee expressed condolences to Mr. James Tan, Acting Chairman of Youths Committee on the bereavement of his father-in-law on 7th February 2011.
